VDL Staalservice as a subcontractor, specializing in processing high-strength steel, such as armor steel, and fabricating weld assemblies. The company plays a crucial role in supplying components for various industries, including defense.
What is Boxer?
Boxer is a Multi-Role Armoured Vehicle (MRAV). The vehicle consists of two parts: the standardised driver’s module and one of the 8 mission-specific modules (ranging from troop transport to combat). Boxer is known for its high mobility, large payload capacity, payload weight, and excellent ballistic protection for the occupants. Not surprisingly, several NATO countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom, together operate more than 1000 of these vehicles.
The role of VDL Staalservice
VDL Staalservice supplies a comprehensive range of armour steel parts and weld assemblies (under the supervision of our own IWT and IWE welding specialists) for the Boxer vehicle. These components are essential for the protection of the occupants. Many of these parts are also, through partners, coated with a special coating.
Results
Thanks to the expertise of VDL Staalservice, the Boxer vehicles meet the stringent requirements in terms of safety and protection. The ability to process armor steel and produce weld assemblies positions VDL Staalservice in a unique position as a partner for manufacturers within the European defence industry.
